One's own belief alone makes the difference in his or her own life. No matter how much a person believes in superstition or the age old custom or anything what the society says or does, at the end of the day man tries to make the changes which works out more convenient for himself.

At times of confusion, Think! Give importance to every tiny suggestion you get from people around you. Consider other's opinions too irrespective of who is giving it. Even if you do not put it to use, it will definitely help you prioritize.
